Trainer Kris Lees could have three runners in the 2018 Group 1 $3m The Star Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Randwick on April 7 if Sound Proposition can win at Rosehill on Saturday.

Sound Proposition is currently twenty-second in the order of entry for the Doncaster Mile and could join stablemates Prized Icon and Invincible Gem in the famous Randwick Mile on the first day of The Championships if he can gain exemption from the ballot with a win in the Group 3 $150,000 Mounties 50th Birthday Doncaster Prelude (1500m) at Rosehill.

“Prized Icon ran another excellent race and has a lovely weight in the Doncaster, whilst Invincible Gem will take further benefit from only her second outing this preparation,” Lees told Racing New South Wales News Desk.

Sound Proposition is currently marked at $51 for the Doncaster Mile with Ladbrokes.com.au while Invincible Gem and Prized Icon are listed as $26 chances.

The James Cummings trained Kementari heads the betting for the Doncaster Mile at $4.20 ahead of Happy Clapper at $5.50 and D’Argento at $6.

Sound Proposition has to carry the top weight of 59kg in the Doncaster Prelude on Saturday and has drawn barrier twelve with Hugh Bowman booked to ride and the six year old is coming off a first up ninth to Lanciato in the Group 3 $150,000 Newcastle Newmarket Handicap (1400m) at Newcastle on March 9.

Trainer Chris Waller has already scratched Japanese import Admire Winner, reducing the field to fourteen, but will still have three runners in the Doncaster Prelude, Montauk, Mister Sea Wolf and Cellarman.

Montauk has drawn the best of the Waller runners at barrier four, Celllarman has drawn next to him in five with Brenton Avdulla to ride and Kerrin McEvoy’s mount Mister Sea Wolf has drawn gate nine.

James Cumming will also have three runners with Duca Valentinois (barrier 15), Interlocuter (barrier 3) and Spectroscope (barrier 11) all to carry the famous Godolphin royal blue colours in the Doncaster Prelude.

The Peter and Paul Snowden trained Snippets Land has drawn the rails with Christian Reith booked to ride.
