Soaked Randwick Rated A Heavy 8

Randwick Racecourse has copped an absolute belting overnight with the tips from the weather forecasters proving to be way off the mark.

With predictions earlier in the week that we would be seeing a Good rating for Doncaster Mile Day that quickly changed when the heavens opened overnight and sent tipsters into a spin.

With rain still pelting the Randwick track it is sitting on a Heavy 8 rating with no signs of the slightest improvement at this stage.

Palacio De Cristal is the first casualty from the rain continuing the bad season for a horse desperately needing a dry surface.

There have been 34.5mm of rain recorded up until 6:30am this morning and track manager Navesh Ramdhani says it hasn’t stopped there.

“I reckon we’ve got another 3 or 4mm since then,” he said.

Showers are forecast throughout the entire day causing a nightmare for on track crowds and a real headache for tipsters around the country.
