Snowden Happy With Stable’s Blue Diamond Preview Chances

Paul Snowden is confident that Mohave and Sakitto can both perform well when they contest their respective divisions of the Listed Blue Diamond Preview (1100m) at Caulfield tomorrow.

Mohave made his racing debut with a second place finish behind talented colt Law in the Listed New South Wales Thoroughbreds Breeders’ Plate (1000m) at Royal Randwick on October 5 and Snowden told Sky Racing HQ this morning that the Exceed And Excel colt is capable of recording his maiden race win in the Blue Diamond Preview for colts and geldings this weekend.

“He is quiet good,” Snowden said.

“His exposed form to Law up there in the Breeders was quiet solid.

“He is one that is going to get better when the races get a touch longer throughout this Blue Diamond series.

“It is not beyond him and I expect him to run extremely well.”

Sakitto made her racing debut with a second place finish behind Wawail in the Beveridge Williams Plate (1000m) at Caulfield on December 11 and was unlucky again when second in the Jacob Park Thoroughbreds Plate (1000m) at the same venue on January 15.

The two-year-old has raced greenly in both of her race starts, but Snowden believes that the application of blinkers may help the daughter of Sakitto focus in the final stages of the Listed event on Saturday.

“Her runs have been very good,” Snowden said.

“She has been narrowly beaten twice, but she has done a lot wrong.

“If she happens to do everything right and win those races she would be a $4 or $5 chance, but she is about $20.

“She has blinkers on tomorrow and we are hoping that we can just squeeze a little bit more out of her and take that negativity away.

“She is quiet bombproof at home, but she seems to run around a little bit in her last furlong in her races.

“I think they have sharpened her up and improved her here and hopefully we can see that tomorrow.”

Sakitto is currently available at the lucrative odds of $26 in 2014 Blue Diamond Preview (Fillies) betting markets, with Eloping and Golconda battling for favouritism, while Movhave ($4.60) is on the second line of betting for the colts and geldings division  of the race behind Mick Price-trained Cornrow (4.20).
