Simcock Will Now Dream Ahead To European Glory

Trainer David Simcock was pleased to report that last weekend’s July Cup winner Dream Ahead was in perfect shape following his spectacular win at Newmarket.

“Dream Ahead has come out of the race absolutely fine,” Simcock said.

“He grubbed up on Saturday night and trotted up with no problems this morning,”

Simcock said he is still experiencing a sea of emotions from Saturday’s race.

“We went through a lot of emotions yesterday, the main one being relief,” he said.

“I was just very proud of the horse.”

The trainer has had to constantly assure others of the horse’s ability after speculation was cast on Dream Ahead’s chances.

“I’ve been quite protective of him, especially when people have questioned his rating and everything,” Simcock said.

Dream Ahead will now be aimed at some of the top European races on offer this year.

“…This win has only enhanced his reputation and I would like to think there is more to come,” Simcock said.

“The Prix Maurice de Gheest is very much in our thinking for him next.”

Jockey Hayley Turner became the first female to win a British Group 1 race outright when she steered Dream Ahead to victory last Saturday.

“I would just like to say thanks to all of the team at Trillium Place and also lots of congratulations go out to Hayley Turner,” Simcock said.

“She couldn’t have done a better job.”
