Silent Sedition to Overcome Queries in Coolmore Classic

Trainer Andrew Noblet is thrilled with the condition of Silent Sedition ahead of Saturday’s Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m), but concedes that there is a question mark over whether or not the talented mare will handle heavy conditions.

Silent Sedition has returned to racing in typically smart form this time; running second in the Group 3 Bellmaine Stakes (1200m) first-up before returning to winning form in the Group 3 Mannerism Stakes (1400m), however both races were contested on tracks boasting a ‘Good 3’ surface.

Having also never contested a race in the clockwise direction, Noblet told AAP that he cannot fault the form of the War Chant mare and is confident that she will be right in the finish of the Coolmore Classic 2017.

“It will be interesting to see how the track is by the end of the week because she has never been on a wet track before which is one question mark,” Noblet said.

“Her two runs this time in have been really good. She has come on since her last start and going to 1500 metres won’t be a problem.

“It’s a good race but she never runs a bad race and she deserves a crack at this. She’ll run well.”

Silent Sedition stamped herself as one to watch when she produced a strong debut performance at Seymour in September of 2015 and has subsequently posted five wins and a further eight minors, through only fourteen starts.

Resuming in 2016 for consecutive wins, including her first black type success in the Listed Bendigo Guineas (1400m), Silent Sedition placed second in a Sandown minor over a mile on April 9th before winning the Group 3 Auraria Stakes (1800m) and running second in the Group 1 Australasian Oaks (2000m).

Running second behind Sheidel in the Group 3 Cape Grim Beef Steaks (1200m) upon resuming in October, Silent Sedition ran third in the Group 3 Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes (1400m) and ended her year with a smart win in the Group 3 Summoned Stakes (1500m) on November 12th.

The 2017 Coolmore Classic field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, today (March 8th).
