Silent Achiever is currently available at 2014 Underwood Stakes odds of $3.20 and is a clear favourite to return to winning form in the Group 1 event at Caulfield on Saturday.

Silent Achiever was one of the star performers during the 2014 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival, taking out both the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) and Group 1 The BMW (2400), and returned to racing with a fourth place finish in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on August 30.
The O’Reilly mare opened at a quote of $3.40 in Underwood Stakes betting markets, but has received a steady stream of support heading into the Group 1 event and is now into $3.20.
Chris Waller-trained Foreteller is on the second line of Underwood Stakes betting at a quote of $4.80 after performing well in two race starts since returning to the races.
Foreteller hit the line strongly in both the Group 2 P.B. Lawrence Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on August 16 and the Group 2 Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on September 6, but Waller believes that the Dansili gelding will need a bit of luck to win the Underwood Stakes.
“Caulfield should not be too much of a problem especially from a good draw, but I just think that he needs an element of luck,” Waller said.
“He needs to be sixth or seventh at the 600 metre mark and travelling and he needs a few gaps to come his way because he can’t be going around them all.
“He needs a bit of pace on from the half mile and that will create a genuine tempo.
“He will let down and be in for a fight.”
The best-backed runner in Underwood Stakes betting markets has been imported galloper Stipulate, who is now into $6 after opening at $7.50 when the 2014 Underwood Stakes field was released earlier in the week.
Stipulate returned to racing with a most impressive victory in the Listed Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock Stakes (1700m) at Caulfield on August 30 and co-trainer David Hayes is now eyeing the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) with the Dansili gelding.
Melbourne Cup favourite The Offer returned to racing with a promising fifth behind The Cleaner in the Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes and the Montjeu gelding has remained steady at Underwood Stakes odds of $6 throughout the week, while P.B. Lawrence Stakes winner Star Rolling is into $7 after being available at $9 less than 24 hours ago.
Popular gelding Happy Trails has been friendless in betting and is out to $13, while there has been little support for 2013 Australian Cup winner Super Cool ($41) and Lloyd Williams-owned Thought Worthy ($61).
