The Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman stable have unearthed a genuine superstar in Sheza Alibi, with the brilliant filly leaving a field of elite colts and geldings in her wake to secure a dominant victory in Saturday’s 2026 Randwick Guineas results.

Sent out as the heavily backed favourite following a crushing first-up win in the Group 2 Angus Armanasco Stakes, the daughter of Saxon Warrior justified every bit of the market support.

Sheza Alibi ($2.10F) made it four consecutive wins, proving far too classy as the only filly in the Randwick Guineas field.

In doing so, she became the first filly to capture the Randwick Guineas since Mosheen in 2012.

The win was also a monumental personal milestone for jockey Luke Nolen, marking his 2,000th career victory.

Nolen, who previously steered her to Group 3 The Vanity and Group 2 Sandown Guineas wins during a prolific spring, was a passenger for much of the straight.

The filly produced an unstoppable late burst to defeat the Chris Waller-trained Autumn Boy by 3.2 lengths, with Attica finishing a further distance back in third.

“She is just something special, this filly,” co-trainer Katherine Coleman told Sky Thoroughbred Central following the historic performance.

“She put the writing on the wall previously, but this has been her hardest test to date and to put a quality field away like that, wowee, I’m shaking.”

Addressing the decision to take on the boys in a Group 1 mile, Coleman added: “It was (an ambitious plan to come here). She always put the writing on the wall that she has got that extra quality, and I think she is something really special and she deserved her spot here today. And hasn’t she done a good job.”

Nolen’s ride was a tactical masterclass, showing patience in the back half of the pack before improving from sixth at the home turn.

When the gaps appeared 300m from the line, the filly responded instantly.

She drew level with Autumn Boy effortlessly before putting the result beyond doubt in a few strides, outclassing her rivals in a performance for the ages.

“When it was a soft run behind the hardest to beat (Autumn Boy), dragged us everywhere we needed to be, and she grew wings at the furlong,” Nolen said of his 2,000th winner.

“She’s an exceptional horse.”

Despite the dominance of the win, the stable is considering an early trip to the spelling paddock to prepare for the spring.

However, bookmakers are keeping her safe in markets for the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) on March 21.

Sheza Alibi has firmed from $15 into $5 in the all-in Rosehill Guineas betting at Ladbrokes, trailing only Autumn Boy and Attica, who share favouritism at $4.

“We’ll see how she comes through this,” Coleman said regarding her future plans.

“The plan always was to have a pretty light autumn because she had such a deep spring preparation.

“So, her and I will be on the road back to Melbourne tomorrow morning.

“We will see how she comes through it.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if we put her away now and save her for the spring.”
