Setinum has been backed into 2015 Bobbie Lewis Quality odds of $12 and has been a clear market mover in betting for the Group 2 event that will be held at Flemington on Saturday.
Setinum opened at $20 when the Bobbie Lewis Quality field was released earlier in the week, but there has been consistent money for the Regal Roller Stakes winner and he has been backed at $14, $13 and $12.
The Holy Roman Emperor made his Group 1 debut with a credible 11th in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on August 29, but trainer Shane Fliedner is confident that the four-year-old will benefit from the drop in both class and distance in the 2015 Bobbie Lewis Quality.
“He ran a pretty good race down the straight the last time he raced there,” Fliedner told Sky Racing.
“He’s ready for it.
“He’s a pretty fit horse and pretty healthy.”
While Setinum was outclassed in the Memsie Stakes, Fliedner is still keen to give the four-year-old another opportunity at the highest level of racing and he revealed that the gelding will contest the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) if he performs well in the Bobbie Lewis Quality tomorrow.
“If he runs up to our expectations on Saturday he’ll go to Caulfield a fortnight later for the Rupert Clarke over 1400 metres,” Fliedner said.
“I couldn’t be happier with the horse.”
Rich Enuff remains a clear favourite in 2015 Bobbie Lewis Quality betting markets, but he has been a slight drifter in the past 24 hours after he returned to racing with a second place finish behind Bounding in the Group 3 Theshark.com.au Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on August 29.
Lucky Hussler is currently on the second line of betting at a quote of $6.50 and he is set to return to the races for the first time since he finished seventh behind Flamberge in the Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m) at Morphettville on May 16.
Team Hawkes-trained Kaepernick ($7.50), last start winner Churchill Dancer ($7.50) and Oakleigh Plate runner-up Under The Louvre are the only other horses that are available at single figure 2015 Bobbie Lewis Quality odds.
There has been a sprinkling of betting support for Gregers ($13 into $11), while Sterling City ($19 out to $26), Amorino ($14 out to $18), Riziz ($13 out to $16), Jabali ($26 out to $31), Worthy Cause ($15 out to $19), and Il Cavallo ($26 out to $34) have all been on the drift.
