James Cummings‘ three-time Group 1 champion, Broadsiding, is favoured to win the 2025 Rosehill Guineas on Golden Slipper Day, aiming to regain punters’ confidence.

The talented Too Darn Hot colt ($2.05) will run third-up in the $750,000 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) after a runner-up finish to Linebacker in the Randwick Guineas (1600m).

“Gun colt Broadsiding is favourite to return to form with a win third-up in Saturday’s 2025 Rosehill Guineas,” a racing analyst at Races.com.au reported.

Broadsiding’s only previous 2000m run was in the Cox Plate, where he finished third behind Via Sistina.

Cummings, who won the Rosehill Guineas with Anamoe in 2022, looks poised for another victory.

Ace hoop James McDonald will ride Broadsiding from barrier nine in the eleven-horse field.

“Cummings won the Rosehill Guineas a few years back with Anamoe (2022) and Rosehill Guineas markets at Ladbrokes suggest he can collect another trophy with Broadsiding the firm $2.05 top fancy in 2025,” a betting expert noted.

At $5 in the Rosehill Guineas odds at Ladbrokes, Swiftfalcon from the Hawkes stable is considered the primary threat.

Tyler Schiller will guide the Exceedance gelding from gate four, building on his consistent form with consecutive placings in key preparatory races.

He has proven his ability at Rosehill, where he has a solid record and recently placed second in the Gloaming Stakes.

His close finishes to Broadsiding in both the Hobartville and Randwick Guineas further highlight his chances.

Goldrush Guru ($5.50), trained by Andrew Gluyas, is another top Randwick Guineas contender in 2025.

The VRC Derby winner will make his Sydney debut and will be ridden by Jamie Melham.

This American Pharoah colt has steadily improved through his current campaign, with a notable third in the Australian Guineas at Flemington over the mile at his latest.

He is expected to thrive as he returns to a more suitable distance up to 2000m and fit at this point in his campaign.

Aeliana ($7), a Group 1 placed daughter of Castelvecchio trained by Chris Waller, is the only filly in the race, and will get the rails run from barrier one with Jason Collett in the saddle.

Runner-up in last year’s Thousand Guineas, Aeliana is out to enter the Rosehill Guineas history books as just the ninth filly to salute and the first since Riverina Charm right back in 1989.

She certainly brings in the right form lines this autumn having crossed third in the Hobartville before a credible fourth last time out in the Randwick Guineas results.

“Just eight fillies have beaten home the colts and geldings in this event throughout history with Riverina Charm (1989) the latest giving Aeliana a notable hoodoo to overcome this weekend,” a racing expert noted.

The 2025 Sky Racing Rosehill Guineas is scheduled for Rosehill Race 6 at 3:25pm (AEDT).
