Leading Sydney jockey Nash Rawiller has been booked to ride Hana’s Goal in the 2014 All Aged Stakes at Royal Randwick on Saturday and got his first experience on the Japanese mare at trackwork this morning.

Hana’s Goal had no luck when making her Australian racing debut in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 22, but she returned to her best form with an impressive sixth behind Sacred Falls in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Royal Randwick on April 12.

Rawiller told TVN that Hana’s Goal had taken plenty of benefit out of her run in the Doncaster Mile and said that he is looking forward to riding the Orewa Matteruze mare in the All Aged Stakes this weekend.

“She wasn’t sent out to do anything too much but she seems to have come through her run really well and felt good, so fingers crossed she is a nice ride on Saturday,” he said.

“She seems to be holding her form that is the main thing.”

Rawiller said that he was impressed by the performance of Hana’s Goal in the Doncaster Mile and believes that she could have finished closer to the winner if a bit of luck had gone her way in the key stages of the race.

The in-form hoop is confident that Hana’s Goal will be suited by the potential hot pace in the All Aged Stakes, with Steps In Time the likely leader, and is hoping that the four-year-old will be hitting the line strongly in the Group 1 event.

“I can just feel that she has got the class to win a Group 1, I am just hoping to get the best out of her,” Rawiller said.

“I’m glad it is looking like there will be a decent sized field, that should create some speed hopefully and she can sit off that and have the last shot at them.

“In those races you need some things to go your way and it wasn’t really the case for her (in the Doncaster Mile).

“I think if we get on to the right horses back she will be right in it and have the last shot at them.”

Rawiller is chasing his second win in the All Aged Stakes after winning the 2007 edition of the race with Bentley Biscuit.
