The 2018 Missile Stakes is a Group 2 race that takes place at Randwick Racecourse in Sydney during August each year. Run under weight-for-age conditions, the Missile Stakes is worth $175,000 in prize money and is run over a distance of 1,200 metres. The Missile Stakes is the first Group race of the Sydney Spring Racing Carnival each year.

The Missile Stakes was first run in 1978 when it was won by a horse named Idol. The race has been run at both Randwick Racecourse and Rosehill Gardens Racecourse. Over the years, three horses have won the Missile Stakes on two consecutive occasions, including Campaign King (1987-88), Joanne (1991-92) and Klokka (1993-94).

Horses that run in the Missile Stakes are often having their first-up run after spelling over the winter. In some cases, Missile Stakes runners may have come off a successful winter campaign. These horses may have the advantage against some of their less fit opposition. Horses that perform well in the Missile Stakes will often go on to compete in races such as the Group 2 Warwick Stakes or the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes later in the spring.

Notable winners of the Missile Stakes include Commands (1999), Lonhro (2002), Pompeii (2003), Dance Hero (2005), German Chocolate (2007) and Love Conquers All (2010).
