The 2018 Magic Night Stakes is a Group 2 contest bringing together the best two year old fillies talent from across the country.
The event is held annually at the end of March at Rosehill during the Sydney autumn racing carnival.
The race is contested over a trip of 1200m under set weight conditions and pays out $175,000 in prize money.
The Magic Night Stakes takes on even extra importance as well with the winner gaining a ballot exemption for the Golden Slipper a week later.
This means the race is always a desperate and hard fought affair with trainers and jockeys having one last shot at getting their horse into the Golden Slipper field.
This guarantees fantastic racing and is a must watch for punters with a view ahead to the Golden Slipper.
That said, the Magic Night Stakes is not a race you would confidentially rely on when using as a form guide.
In fact no horse has managed the double with Victory Vein in 2002 coming closest when she went on to run second and both Portillo and Media crossed in third in 2008 and 2005 respectively.
The Magic Night Stakes is held on Rosehill Guineas Day at Rosehill, one of the biggest days on the entire calendar.
Previous winners of the event include Regal Chamber in 1997, Hosannah in 2001, Gold Edition in 2006 and Willow Creek in 2010.
