The 2019 Magic Millions 3YO Guineas is one of the highlights of the Gold Coast Magic Millions Carnival and the second biggest event run at the venue all year. In fact with a prize pool of almost $2 million the race is among the upper echelon of events run anywhere in Australia.

Only the Magic Millions 2YO Classic worth $2 million is a more prestigious race on the Gold Coast and many trainers and owners have attempted to crack the double over the years although none have succeeded.

As the name suggests the Magic Millions Guineas is for three year old horses that are eligible to compete and is run over a 1400m trip.

To compete in any race during the Magic Millions carnival a horse must have been purchased through the Magic Millions sales which are held during the same period.

It’s a system that rewards owners and trainers and also pays big dividends to the company itself.

With a far smaller pool of horses to compete against the chances of winning big prize money are greatly enhanced.

That being said it’s not like the quality of the race is poor with plenty of horses coming through here and going onto big things.

The Magic Millions 3YO Guineas was first run in 2011 when it was known as the Magic Millions Trophy, a name it kept right up until 2011.

The first horse to win the race was Paradiddle and it took until 2007 for a Queensland trained horse to take the title when Gold Edition did it in 2007.

Other previous winners of the race include Ha Ha in 2002, Biaggio in 2003, Heart Of The Citi in 2008 and Graceful Anna in 2010.
