The 2017 Concorde Stakes is a Group 3 race that is run at Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney during September each year.

Run over a distance of 1,000 metres, the Concorde Stakes is worth $150,000 in prize money and is run under set weights plus penalties conditions. Run as part of the Sydney Spring Racing Carnival, the Concorde Stakes is open to horses aged three-years-old and upwards. The Concorde Stakes is run on the same day as the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes, Group 2 Furious Stakes, Group 2 Tramway Quality and Group 3 Ming Dynasty Quality.

The first Concorde Stakes was run in 1989 when it was won by a horse named Alpine Flyer. Horses that run in the Concorde Stakes often come via races such as the Group 3 Missile Stakes on the first day of the Sydney Spring Carnival in August or the Group 3 Show County Quality a fortnight before.

Horses that run well in the Concorde Stakes often go on to perform well in races such as the Group 3 Cameron Handicap, Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes and the Group 2 Caulfield Sprint later in the spring.

Notable winners of the Concorde Stakes include Armidale (1997), Phoenix Park (2001), Mustard (2006) and Reward For Effort (2010).

2017 Concorde Stakes Field

The 2017 Concorde Stakes field will be released on Wednesday August 31. It is expected that quite a few of the stronger horses listed in the nominations will accept for the 2016 Concorde Stakes field. The 2017 Concorde Stakes field will be published below.
