Strathalbyn

Situated only 40 minutes from the heart of Adelaide Strathalbyn Racecourse is one of the most highly regarded boutique provincial circuits anywhere in the country.  While plenty of racecourses boast being ‘picturesque’, the perfectly manicured lawns and rose gardens at Strathalbyn genuinely encapsulate the true meaning of the word.

The circuit is run by the Strathalbyn Racing Club, a group that was formed way back in 1922 by a small group of South Australian racing fans.

It quickly grew into much more though and the club is now proving to be increasingly popular with people living in Adelaide who want to escape the city for a more relaxed country style of racing.

Complimenting the gorgeous scenery and luscious grounds at Strathalbyn Racecourse is a warm and friendly atmosphere welcoming of anyone whether they be local or out of town traveller.

Strathalbyn racecourse hosts at least a dozen race meetings every year with feature race days scheduled during January, April, May and November.

No doubt their biggest event though is the annual Strathalbyn Cup which jumps in mid January and is well supported across all of South Australia.

Strathalbyn Racecourse itself is the largest provincial circuit in South Australia with a total track circumference of 1690m.

The home straight stretches for 340m and the facilities also include an inner grass training track and a sand galloping track.

There are starts from the 1200m, 1350m, 1600m and 2050m.
