Port Macquarie Racecourse is a top shelf provincial track located approximately halfway between the city of Newcastle and Coffs Harbour.
Its geographic location means it’s developed into a vital circuit for racing New South Wales and well worth continuing investment and development.
The course is operated by the Port Macquarie Race Club and they manage to host around 20 race meetings every year.
The track is only 3km from the centre of Port Macquarie City and as a result enjoys good support from the local community.
No time is this support more evident than during the Port Macquarie Cup Carnival hosted between September and October every year.
During this time not only does the club enjoy strong crowd support but also support from travelling trainers and owners which make the journey to Port Macquarie Racecourse form across the state.
The feature event of the carnival is the Port Macquarie Cup over 2000m worth a healthy $100,000.
The track itself has a circumference of 1600m with a wide 18m straight stretching 375m.
It is a symmetrically oval track meaning horses can settle well and develop a good flow allowing them a more explosive turn of foot off the turn.
Part Macquarie Racecourse caters for starts from the 1000m, 1100m, 1200m, 1400m, 1700m, 1800m and 2000m.
