Horsham

Horsham Racecourse is one of the final stops on the Victorian racing map before crossing into South Australia. The town is located little more than an hour from the border and about 3.5 hours north west of Melbourne.

Horsham sits on the Western Highway past other circuits like Ballarat and Ararat. The town is the hub of the Wimmera and as a result race days are always well supported.

That being said you’d expect them to be given they only host around three meetings annually.

The circuit is always presented in superb condition for its meets with top class facilities only a stone’s throw from the centre of the town.

The feature event at Horsham Racecourse is the Horsham Cup held during the middle part of October.

The town makes the most of it too with a sensational atmosphere that starts even before the gates open.

After that it’s on to the second feature meet, the Santa Day races which are run towards the end of December just before Christmas.

Horsham facilitates starts from just about every distance up to 1800m with another from the 2100m.

The course is run by the Horsham & District Racing Club and is also sometimes referred to as Wimmera Racecourse.
