Eagle Farm is Queensland’s premier track and home to the large part of Brisbane’s Winter carnival. Since its foundation in 1865, Eagle Farm racecourse has cemented itself as one of Australia’s premium tracks. It now hosts the Brisbane Cup, QLD Derby, Sir Byrne Hart Stakes and the Stradbroke.
The Eagle Farm track has been controlled by the Brisbane Racing Club (BRC) since July 1, 2009. The BRC was born out of a merger between the Brisbane Turf Club and the Queensland Turf Club.
The racecourse is located on over 60 hectares of land in Ascot, just 8 kilometres from Brisbane’s CBD and only 6 kilometres from Brisbane Airport. Like those in New South Wales, Eagle Farm is a right handed (or clockwise) track. It has a circumference of 2027 metres and a 434 metre long straight. Eagle Farm racecourse is used for flat racing and has a grass surface with a woodfibre and sand composite underlay.
Eagle Farm racecourse is a turf track that is known for its ability to be an all seasons course that can cope with all weather conditions. This, along with Eagle Farm’s heritage listed buildings and exquisite gardens, makes Eagle Farm an ideal track for some of the greatest horse racing Australia has to offer.
