Quest For More The Market Mover In Geelong Cup Betting

Quest For More is currently available at 2015 Geelong Cup odds of $4.80 and the British stayer has been easily the best-backed runner in betting markets for the Group 3 event that will be held his afternoon.

Quest For More offered at the big price of $7.50 earlier in the week, but that was quickly claimed by punters and he has been backed into the second line of Geelong Cup betting markets behind Darren Weir-trained Dandino.

The Teofilo gelding missed out on a place in the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) on Saturday, but stable representative Alan Knight does not believe that will be an issue and he expects the talented stayer to perform well in the 2015 Geelong Cup as he builds towards the Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington on November 3.

“He is fit and ready to go whenever we need him,” Knight said.

“He always runs a very good race and he always tries very hard.

“He just loves to run.

“He will follow the leaders and he can quicken up whenever he wants.

“He has won three times over the distance in Europe, but the main target is obviously the Melbourne Cup over two miles.

“I am sure that he will run a big race today.”

Quest For More made his racing debut back in 2012, but he has stamped himself as an extremely progressive stayer in the past 12 months with a string of impressive performances.

The Melbourne Cup hopeful started his 2015 racing season with a second place finish in the British Racing Stakes (2414m) at Newmarket on May 3 and he returned to winning form with a victory in the Lidsey Silver Anniversary Handicap (2816m) at Goodwood on May 23.

Quest For More stamped himself as a genuine Melbourne Cup hopeful when he took out the Northumberland Plate (3236m) at Newcastle on June 27 and he was only narrowly denied by fellow Melbourne Cup contender Big Orange in the Group 2 Goodwood Cup (3218m) on July 30, while Caulfield Cup runner-up Trip To Paris finished third in the same race.

Dandino is currently available at 2015 Geelong Cup odds of $3.20 with Ladbrokes and he is a clear favourite from Quest For More ($4.80), Team Freedman-trained Guardini ($9), imported stayer Bonfire ($11), China Horse Club-owned Orbec ($11) and the consistent Sertorius ($14).
