Ana Royale could head North for the 2017 Queensland Oaks after she showed her staying credentials with an impressive in the South Australian Fillies Classic at Morphettville this afternoon.
Ana Royale went into the South Australian Fillies Classic as a clear favourite, but jockey Mark Zahra had no problems dragging her back towards the tail of the field as Lilymore ensured that the race was run at a solid tempo.
The field starting to come back together coming around the bend and Zahra had no hesitation taking Ana Royale to the extreme outside coming around the turn.
Smart As You Think was the first horse to pull away from the pack, but Ana Royale always travelled like the winner in the straight and she comfortably finish over the top of her rivals to score a strong win.
Ana Royale made a slow start to her racing career, but she has gone to another level since getting out over staying trips this preparation.
She was not disgraced when third behind Sword Of Light and Think Babe in the VOBIS Reef at Caulfield on April 22 and she ran the fastest closing sectionals when third behind Egg Tart and Kenedna in the Group 1 Australasian Oaks (2010m) at Morphettville on May 6.
Ana Royale has been included in the nominations for the Group 1 Queensland Oaks (2400m) that will be held at Eagle Farm in a fortnight and all the signs point to her heading for a rematch with Egg Tart and Kenedna in the Group 1 event.
