Nathan Doyle’s undefeated colt, Private Harry, is favoured to win his Group race debut in The Galaxy 2025 at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday, facing a field of older sprinters.

One of five elite-level Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival features on Golden Slipper Day, The Galaxy (1100m) features a strong lineup of short-distance specialists.

Private Harry ($3.30) leads The Galaxy betting markets at Ladbrokes.

The three-year-old Harry Angel colt has won all four career starts, including the $3 million Magic Millions Sunlight 3YO Plate at the Sunshine Coast.

“Private Harry is favourite to remain unbeaten after Saturday’s 2025 The Galaxy race in Sydney,” a racing analyst from Races.com.au reported.

His Sunlight Plate victory, where he defeated the reigning Golden Slipper winner Lady Of Camelot, has been validated by Lady Of Camelot’s subsequent Group 1 placings.

Private Harry has had two recent winning trials to maintain his fitness.

“That was an impressive effort when beating home last year’s Golden Slipper winner Lady Of Camelot by over two lengths, the form of which has been subsequently franked with the second placed filly running placings behind Lady Shenandoah in the Group 2 Light Fingers (2nd), Group 1 Surround Stakes (2nd), and last weekend’s Group 1 Coolmore Classic (3rd),”a racing expert noted.

“The bookies are now tipping the Sunlight Plate form to continue to hold up in tougher grade races this weekend with Private Harry well-weighted and coming off two subsequent winning trials to keep him fit and firing.

Commemorative ($6), trained by Godolphin’s James Cummings, is the main threat, having moved from $8 in the markets.

Zac Lloyd, who is riding in terrific form, will ride the I Am Invincible mare, who won the Group 3 Wenona Girl Handicap last time out.

She will carry just 51kg making her a genuine light weight contender in The Galaxy field.

“She (Commemorative) rises in grade here but comes back from 54kg to just 51kg and will be flying on the light weight over her ideal distance (4:2-1-0) in The Galaxy,” a betting expert stated.

Briasa ($7), trained by Team Hawkes, returns to racing after winning the Group 2 The Hunter in the spring.

He will start from the outside barrier.

Growing Empire ($8), trained by Ciaron Maher, is the last of the single-figure contenders.

James McDonald will ride the Zoustar colt, who is aiming to be the first three-year-old Galaxy winner since Russian Revolution in 2017.

Maher also fields I Am Me ($13) and Estriella ($23).

Jedibeel ($16) and Front Page ($15) are potential value runners.

“$3 million earner Front Page ($15) first-up looking to add to his imposing record when resuming presents as the potential value The Galaxy runners this season,” a betting expert noted.

The 2025 Kia Ora Galaxy is set to run as Rosehill Race 9 at 5:15pm (AEDT) on Saturday.
