Tarzino stamped himself as a dominant favourite for the Victoria Derby with a string of impressive performances during the 2015 Spring Racing and he maintained his place as a $2.40 position after he was allocated the wide draw this morning.

Trainer Mick Price was clearly happy to have drawn from the inside Victoria Derby barriers and he told the media at the barrier draw that jockey Craig Newitt would likely settle Tarzino much closer to the speed then he did in the Group 2 Moonee Valley Vase (2040m) on October 24.

Kia Ora Koutou has been one the best-backed runners in the 2015 Victoria Derby betting markets throughout the week and he is set to receive a lovely trail into the race after he was allocated barrier one this afternoon.

Amazingly, Kia Ora Koutou has jumped from barrier one in each of his past three race starts and he has generally been settled just off the pace by jockey Joe Azzopardi, but this is easily the biggest field that he has faced during his racing career.

One of the other big winners of the 2015 Victoria Derby barrier draw was Pat Hyland-trained Lizard Island, who will have plenty options when he jumps from gate three with Blake Shinn in the saddle.

Lizard Island made up plenty of ground late in the worst part of the track in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) on October 10 and he took up the running and toughed it out bravely when he finished second behind Sacred Eye in the Group 3 Ladbrokes Caulfield Classic (2000m).

Get The Picture (barrier five), Jadeer (barrier four), Palace Tycoon (barrier seven), Scadden’s Run (barrier eight), Red Alto (barrier two) and Iron Boss (barrier six) have also drawn inside barrier draws.

Lindsay Park-trained Extra Choice worked his way into Victoria Derby contention with a strong staying performance in the Listed Geelong Classic (2200m) on October 21, but he will need plenty of luck in running after he was allocated the outside gate.

Shards (barrier 11), Ayers Rock (barrier 12), Man Of Choice (barrier 16), Pay Up Bro (barrier 15) and Colonel Custer (barrier 14) will also jump in the second half of the Victoria Derby field, while first emergency Bullish Stock was allocated barrier 13.

Tarzino is currently available at 2015 Victoria Derby odds of $2.40 with Ladbrokes and is a dominant favourite from Kia Ora Koutou ($8), Pay Up Bro ($11), Get The Picture ($11) and Lizard Island ($12).

You can score the best Victoria Derby odds with Ladbrokes, who are offering Best Tote or Starting Price +20% for every single race at Flemington on Saturday.
