Luke Nolen will not ride at Sandown’s Betfair Park meeting today to make sure he doesn’t compromise his chance this Saturday in the Golden Slipper at Rosehill.
His manger, Adrian Coyne said the jockey suffered a minor hip injury at Caulfield yesterday morning but he would definitely be fit to ride in the Golden Slipper where he is booked for the Bart Cummings trained Salade.
“He has a bit of a sore hip from Tuesday morning so he thought it would be best to just rest up to make sure he is right for Saturday,” Coyne said.
“He could be back riding on Thursday but will be right to ride on Friday and then Saturday.”
The Melbourne Based jockey will be replaced by Ben Melham on the Peter Moody trained Star Salute while Brad Rawiller will ride for Mick Kent on Seduced.
Dwayne Dunn also scored a Moody ride with Definitive and Michael Walker has the final spot with Bart Cummings’s Markab.
Salade is a $13 chance to win the 2011 Golden Slipper and is Bart Cummings main hope in the race.
