Wicked Intent and Frequendly are both available at 2015 Magic Millions Classic odds of $6 and are locked in a battle for favouritism for the $2 million event at the Gold Coast on Saturday.
Wicked Intent was made a clear favourite in 2015 Magic Millions Classic betting markets after he recorded dominant wins in the Breakfast Creek Hotel Handicap on November 29 and the Listed Phelan Ready (1050m) at Doomben on December 13, but he lost his stranglehold on favouritism when he suffered a shock loss to Mishani Honcho in the Group 3 BJ McLachlan Stakes (1200m).
The Wicked Style colt was still favourite when the 2015 Magic Millions Classic field was released on Monday, but he has drifted back out to a quote of $6 in the last 24 hours.
Frequendly has been the best backed runners in Magic Millions Classic betting markets since the final field was revealed and she has been backed from $6.50 into $6.
The Sequalo filly won her first two starts by a combined total of 12 lengths before she was beaten as an odds-on favourite in the Capture The Feeling Handicap (1110m) at Doomben on November 22, but returned to winning form with a professional performance in the Magic Millions Plate at Toowoomba on December 31.
Another filly that is involved in the battle for favouritism in 2015 Magic Millions Classic betting markets is talented juvenile Claudia Jean, who is currently available at a quote of $6.50.
Claudia Jean made her racing debut with a most impressive three and a half lengths victory in the Christmas Season Plate (1000m) at Flemington on December 20 and will have the chance to take up the running in the early stages of the Magic Millions Classic after drawing ideally in barrier one.
“We are certainly not complaining about barrier one,” Dabernig told RSN yesterday.
“I looked at the statistics and in the last eight years there hasn’t been a horse win from outside barrier nine, so I think drawing in is a big advantage for you on that track.
“With two-year-olds it can be a little bit of a lottery, but we are very happy with our filly going into the race and pleased with her and the gate that she has drawn.”
Perignon secured a place in the Magic Millions Classic when she won the Rewards Plate (1200m) at Canterbury on December 27 and she is currently available at $8 to give trainer Gerald Ryan a maiden win in the lucrative race, while Nick Olive-trained Single Style ($8.50) is the only other horse available at single figure Magic Millions Classic odds.
There has been a sprinkling of support in Magic Millions Classic betting for Miss Idyllic ($15 into $14), Saga Of The Storm ($19 into $18) and Pepperano ($26 into $21), while Right Of Way ($34 out to $41) and Star Of Night ($81 out to $101) have been on the drift.
