Rarefied looks set to continue his Australian tour with Brisbane the next city on the list this summer.

Rarefied has been in tremendous form since returning after a long injury layoff for trainer Peter Snowden.

Since running a nice first up second on Derby Day at Flemington in the Salinger Stakes the horse had the same result in the Lightning Handicap at Randwick and then again in the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes across in Perth.

It’s likely he’ll now go on to the $200,000 George Moore Stakes at Doomben in two weeks time.

He’s covering a lot of miles in a short period but Snowden says he’s simply making up for lost time.

“Normally I would be sending any horse which has raced across three states including Western Australia for an immediate break,” Snowden said.

“But Rarefied was out of racing for 18 months before he came back in the Lightning and he’s only had 15 career starts.

“”The Group 1 placing in the Winterbottom did a bit of damage into the way the handicappers look at him now. He’s become quite hard to place.”

It’s expected he’ll be given a weight around the 58kg mark and Snowden feels that is enough to put him right in the Group 3 contest.

“The $200,000 for the Doomben race is a big carrot. At this stage we are planning to bring him up,” he said.

“He flew back to Melbourne last Monday and is coming back to Sydney tonight. He looks magnificent at the moment so the signs are good he will go on.”

It was in April last year that Rarefied suffered a tendon injury that put him out of action following the South pacific Classic.

After that he developed no less than three quarter cracks keeping him in the paddock until October this year.

Since returning it’s only been big runs from star mares Sister Madly and Ortensia that have stood between him and victory.

If he does run in the 2011 George Moore Stakes it’s expected that a local jockey will get the ride.
