New CEO Set To Boost Newcastle Jockey Club

The Newcastle Jockey Club has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer in the hope of boosting the track’s current position in the racing industry.

Cameron Williams will take on the new role from next Monday after leaving his position at the Australian Turf Club, where he was second in charge to current CEO Darren Pearce.

Mr Williams is more than excited by the prospect of his new role at Newcastle Racecourse.

“I am looking forward to working with the Board, management team and staff to enhance the NJC’s position as a premier racing club and entertainment venue,” Mr Williams said.

“My wife and two young boys are also excited about the move to Newcastle.”

Newcastle Jockey Club chairman, Brian Reardon, approached Mr Williams about a job offer as soon as he discovered he was available.

“We didn’t advertise the position, but after a few meetings with (Mr Williams) the Board was unanimous he was the right person.

“Cameron not only has a racing background but also possesses the business acumen needed to fit such a position.

“We are certainly looking forward to him taking up the reins next week.”
