Jockey Tim Clark wrapped up a winning treble when he steered Najoom to victory in the Group 3 $150,000 Blacktown Workers Hawkesbury Guineas (1400m) at Rosehill today.
Najoom ($2.80 favourite) sat on the pace before running away in the straight to score a three and three quarter lengths win in the Group 3 for the three year olds that was postponed from last Saturday’s Hawkesbury stand alone meeting after it was washed out.
Clark is riding in peak form and won earlier in the day on High Midnight for Bart And James Cummings in the $85,000 Power Access BenchMark 75 Handicap (1900m) and on Solicit for Gerald Ryan in the Group 3 $150,000 The 2015 Darley Crown (1300m).
Clark had the Gai Waterhouse trained Najoom travelling sweetly on the pace and stuck to the fence in the straight to run away from Federal ($3) and Bachman ($21) to score a very easy win.
“She controlled the tempo,” Clark said.
“She’s an easy filly to ride. She showed an electric turn of foot and put the issue beyond doubt very quickly.”
The win by Najoom also capped off a great day Waterhouse who had earlier won the Group 1 $650,000 The Bundaberg Rum Doomben Cup (2000m) at Doomben with French Import Pornichet.
Today’s win was Najoom’s fifth from seven race starts and took her prizemoney total to over $160,000.
