Mourayan Scratched From Melbourne Cup Field

Mourayan (no.10) has been scratched form the Melbourne Cup on vets advice

Lloyd William’s Mourayan has been a surprise late scratching from today’s Melbourne Cupat Flemington.

The six-year-old gelding pulled up slightly lame following his second place run behind Glass Harmonium in the Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes last start, however, was deemed as suitable to be an acceptor by the course vets.

It is rumoured that the horse is suffering from some type of hoof complaint.

Unfortunately the Robert Hickmott-trained entire failed to recover from his injuries in time for today’s $6 million Cup and was scratched on vet’s advice.

Mourayan had been widely tipped to feature in the first few finishers in today’s race after performing at the top level throughout his spring preparation.

Lloyd Williams and Robert Hickmott will still be represented in the race by At First Sight.
