Moqla was an impressive two and a quarter lengths winner in an 1100m two year old  Handicap at Morphettville three weeks ago and Lindsay Park co-trainer Tom Dabernig said the Exceed And Excel filly deserved her chance to tackle better company and try to record some black type on her name in the breeding catalogue.

“She was an impressive last start winner. We are going for some black type here,” Dabernig said.

At her second race start Adelaide jockey Matthew Neilson was able to lead all of the way for her maiden win and he should have no trouble positioning Moqla on the pace again from barrier two in the eleven horse field.

In an open betting race, Moqla is rate a $7.50 chance with Ladbrokes.com.au while Dabernig rates the unbeaten If Not Now When at $4.40 as one of the hardest to beat.

“I think the favourite If Not Now When will be hard to beat but I think our horse, drawn a good gate, will run well,” Dabernig said, who trains in partnership with David Hayes.

The Henry Dwyer trained If Not Now When is chasing a hat trick of wins after scoring on debut in the $250,000 VOBIS Gold Rush (1000m) at Bendigo on March 19 followed by a win in the $100,000 VOBIS Gold Plate (1000m) at Cranbourne on April 1.

Michael Dee has been aboard the Artie Schiller filly for her two wins to date but needs plenty of luck in the Dequetteville Stakes after drawing out wide at barrier ten.

The Terry & Karina O’Sullivan trained Moshki is the ruling favourite at $4.20 and is coming off a four and three quarter lengths all the way win in the Listed $100,000 Cinderella Stakes (1050m) at Morphettville on March 5.

Apprentice Emily Finnegan has retained the ride even though the Dequetteville Stakes is a non-claiming race and she will be able to have Moshki in a prominent position again from barrier three.

Dequetteville Stakes market order at Ladbrokes.com.au: $4.20 Moshki, $4.40 If Not Now When, $6 Serenely Discreet, $7.50 Moqla, $8.50 Modern Wonder, Areti, $9 Motown Lil, $14 Neapolitan, $17 Extra Olives, $34 Posh Journey, $61 Helmara.
