Mahuta has been backed into 2015 Sandown Guineas odds of $4.80 and has been a clear market mover in betting for the Group 2 event that will be held this afternoon.
Mahuta opened at a quote of $6 when the Sandown Guineas field was released earlier in the week, but there has been consistent support for the in-form galloper and he is now on the second line of betting.
The Flying Spur colt started his career with two credible efforts at both Seymour and Echuca before he stamped himself as a horse to with a dominant six lengths victory in the Winning Edge Presentations Maiden (1450m) at Kyneton on October 8.
Mahuta made his black-type debut with a tough victory in the Listed Gothic Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on October 17 and he made it three wins on the trot with a strong effort in the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on October 31.
While there has been plenty of money for Mahuta, Don’t Doubt Mamma remains favourite in Sandown Guineas betting – despite drifting from $3.60 out to $4.40 in the last 24 hours.
Don’t Doubt Mamma has been a consistent performer during the 2015 Spring Racing Carnival and she will also take winning form into the Sandown Guineas following her visually impressive win in the Listed Lexus Hybrid Plate (1400m) at Flemington on November 3.
Another horse that has been well-backed in Sandown Guineas betting markets is Godolphin-owned Demonstrate, who has been backed from $9 into $6.50.
Demonstrate has been a consistent performer since he made his racing debut with a fourth place finish in the Listed Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) at Sandown on January 26 and he finished a tough second behind Palentino at Flemington on Emirates Stakes Day.
The lightly-raced Ngarimu finished third in the same race and he is on the fourth line of Sandown Guineas betting at a quote of $9, while Murray Baker-trained Dal Cielo ($13 into $9) and Carbine Club Stakes runner-up Patch Adams ($12 into $9) are the only other horses available at single figure Sandown Guineas odds.
There has been a sprinkling of support in the Sandown Guineas betting market with Ladbrokes for Marky Mark ($21 into $14) and Gredington ($34 into $31), while Sea Of Tranquility ($31 out to $41), Flying Light ($21 out to $26), Shockaholic (21 out to $26) and Zafiki ($13 out to $18) have all been on the drift.
