Money For Godolphin Duo In Doomben 10,000 Betting

Godolphin have both Generalife and Knoydart in the 2015 Doomben 10,000 field and there has been support for both sprinters in betting markets for the Group 1 event in Brisbane tomorrow.

Generalife opened at a quote of $7.50 when the Doomben 10,000 betting market was released on Wednesday afternoon, but there has been consistent money for the talented sprinter and he is now on the second line of betting at a quote of $6.50.

The Lonhro gelding will be having just his second start at Group 1 level in the Doomben 10,000, but he is taking one of the strongest form lines into the race.

Generalife returned to the races with a narrow victory over Target In Sight and Hot Snitzel in the Group 3 Star Kingdom Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 28 and he hit the line strongly in what was arguably the run of the race when he finished fifth behind Dissident, Wandjina, Chautauqua and Scissor Kick in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick on April 18.

Knoydart has flown slightly under the radar heading into the Doomben 10,000, but there has still been a sprinkling of support for the More Than Ready gelding in betting markets for the $750,000 event and he is now into a quote of $12 to record a maiden win at Group 1 level.

The five-year-old has not recorded a race win since he took out the Listed Hareeba Stakes (1200m) in Mornington last year and he has been unable to reproduce the form that saw him finish third in both the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) and Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) last year, but he has performed fairly in four race starts this preparation.

Knoydart returned to the races with a credible fourth in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m) at Royal Randwick on March 7 and he was far from disgraced in the Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m) before he hit the line strongly in the Group 2 Victory Stakes (1200m) at the Gold Coast on April 25.

There was very little support for Knoydart in the lead-up to the Group 1 BTC Cup (1200m) at Doomben on May 9, but he produced his best performance in over 12 months to finish second behind Hot Snitzel.

Godolphin are chasing their third win in the Doomben 10,000 after previously taking out the race with Beaded in 2011 and Epaulette in 2013.
