Mister Sea Wolf was one of nine runners trainer Chris Waller saddled up in the Chelmsford Stakes and the punters sent him out as the $5 equal favourite along with fifth placed Angel Of Truth.

The powerful Waller stable provided the trifecta for the Chelmsford Stakes with Yulong Prince ($21) running second just ahead of his stablemate Finch ($9).

Before the Chelmsford Stakes field jumped, Mister Sea Wolf was marked at $17 at Ladbrokes.com.au for the $500,000 George Main Stakes at Randwick on September 19, but the nine year old English import is now marked at $8 for the 1600m Group 1.

Winning jockey Nash Rawiller parked Mister Sea Wolf behind the leader Wu Gok and then gave the veteran a clear run to the line.

Mister Sea Wolf’s legs were getting tired close to the line but he still had enough gas in the tank to hold on for a long head win.

“He was presented here today in beautiful order and the mile was always going to suit him. I was getting into a bit of a fight with him early to get into a rhythm and when I saw Adam coming across at a genuine tempo I thought well at least I’ve got a backside to follow,” Rawiller said.

“He switched off quite well in the run and gave a terrific kick and was going to be very tough to run down.”
