Mick Price Duo On Track For 2014 Magic Millions Test

Trainer Mick Price is confident that both his runners can excel in this Saturday’s 2014 Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

Nordic Empire and Geromayo will line up for the $2 million event, with each horse gaining a guaranteed start in the race.

Wilandercolt Nordic Empire has had just two starts going into Saturday’s contest.

After winning his first race on debut by almost two lengths, the two-year-old placed third in the $85,000 TAB iPad App Plate at Canterbury on December 28.

With the barrier drawn conducted earlier today, the horses drew at different ends of the field.

Nordic Empire was out of luck, drawing barrier 19 of 21 in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

However, after emergencies are scratched, Nordic Empire will likely come into barrier 15 of 16 on the day.

Price insists that the barrier draw won’t lead to Nordic Empire’s undoing.

“There is speed out there and it’s not the worst result for us,” Price said.

“They will boot forward and I will get a trail off them.”

Geromayo, on the other hand, has drawn ideally in barrier seven next to market mover Invisible.

Price believes that Geromayo is at his very best going into the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and is expecting big things from the juvenile galloper.

“He’s glossed up in the coat, he’s thinned up in the body, his brain is better,” he said.

“He’s fitter, stronger and turned into a real racehorse.

“The timing of everything we have done with him is perfect. The gate is good for him. There are plenty of things in his favour.

“I think he’s going to be a chance to be in the fat end of the prizemoney.”

Geromayo will be out to claim his very first win when he runs in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

After placing fifth in the Listed Inglis Debutant Stakes in October, Geromayo has placed second in both the $200,000 Magic Millions Clockwise Classic and the $200,000 Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic.
