The 2015 Caulfield Sprint field has been released and talented mare Lumosty is set to return to the races in the Group 2 event at Caulfield on Saturday.
Lumosty has shown a great deal of talent since she made her racing debut with a second place finish behind Eloping in the Listed Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) at Caulfield on January 25 last year and she made it all the way to the Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m) during the 2015 Spring Racing Carnival.
The Fastnet Rock mare was given a lengthy stint in the spelling paddock following her sixth place finish in the Crown Oaks and she was able to re-establish herself as a sprinter with two impressive wins in the All Victorian Sprint Series (1100m) at Flemington on May 9 and the Listed The Straight Six (1200m) at the same venue on May 23.
Lumosty went into the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1350m) at Doomben on June 6 as favourite, but she was caught wide throughout the race and could finish no better than tenth before she produced an improved effort to finish third behind Srikandi and Avoid Lightning in the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) at the Gold Coast on June 20.
Another talented sprinter that is set to return to the races in the 2015 Caulfield Sprint is triple Group 1 winner Moment Of Change, who has not been seen at the races since he finished a disappointing third behind Shamal Wind in the Listed W.J. Adams Stakes (1000m) at Sandown on Australia Day.
Moment Of Change was sent to defend his title in the Group 1 Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield, but he was sent to the spelling paddock after he suffered a nasty colic attack that forced him to undergo emergency surgery at the Southeast Equine Hospital.
The Barely A Moment gelding is set to return to the races at his home track on Saturday – a venue where he has recorded four wins from six starts including wins in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m), Orr Stakes and Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m).
Trainer Peter Moody is yet to reveal the exact path that Moment Of Change will follow during the 2015 Spring Racing Carnival, but he has been included in the nominations for the Group 1 Darley Classic (1200m) that will be held at Flemington on Emirates Stakes Day.
21 horses were included in the 2015 Caulfield Sprint nominations that were released this afternoon and the resuming duo arte set to take on the likes of Eloping, Flamberge, Fontiton, Furnaces, Haptic, Headwater, Knoydart, Kuro, Miss Promiscuity, Rain Affair and Tiger Tees in the Group 2 event.
