Jockey Craig Williams was quick to get back into the good books with punters when he steered Let’s Make Adeal to a dominant win in the Listed $100,000 Mittys Centaurea Stakes (2000m) at Morphettville today.
Williams was out of luck on the well fancied Ungrateful Ellen when that filly finished third in the Group 3 $115,000 SA Fillies Classic (2500m) but the favourite backers were smiling when Let’s Make Adeal ($3.30) shot away half way down the straight to record a three and half length win.
The Phillips Stokes trained Held Hostage ($16) surged to the front at the top of the straight but was no match for the Let’s Make Adeal with Lady Cumquat ($10) also running on for third.
Let’s Make Adeal had been struggling to find her way back into the winner’s circle but indicated last start that a win was not far away after running a first second to Atlantis Dream in the Group 2 $175,000 Hughes Chauffeured Limousines Queen Of The South Stakes (1600m) at Morphettville on May 2.
Trainer Nigel Blackiston had tested the Red Ransom mare in the top grade in the 2014 Melbourne Autumn Carnival and the 2014 Spring Carnival and will no doubt be looking at the Spring again.
