Speedy filly Jedastar will be out to test her credentials for a start in the Group 1 $1.5m Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 23 when she steps out at Caulfield on Saturday.
Jedastar was an all the way debut winner down the Flemington straight in a 1000m 2yo Plate on New Year’s Day and trainer Lloyd Kennewell will line the filly up for her second race start in Saturday’s Group 3 $160,000 Blue Diamond Preview (Fillies) (1000m).
“That’s been her target all along,” Kennewell told AAP.
“She’s a nice speedy filly. You’d think that would suit her, being 1000 metres around her home track.
“There will be some very nice fillies in it but she is one of them. She’s entitled to have her spot there that’s for sure.
“She went terrific on debut and had a nice soft winning jump-out on Tuesday morning at Caulfield in the fastest two-year-old time of the morning so I’m very happy with where she’s at.”
“With two-year-olds you don’t know how long you’ve got them for so you are holding your breath each time they run.”
“We’ll get her to next week first and then we’ll see how she comes through that and go from there.”
