Improving Track Key For Snowden’s Breeders Classic Duo

Team Snowden have Dublin Lass and I’ve Got The Looks in the 2016 Breeders Classic field and co-trainer Paul Snowden believes that an improving track will be key to the chances of both horses in the Group 2 event at Royal Randwick on Saturday.

Royal Randwick is currently rated as a soft seven after more rain hit Sydney during the week and Snowden told Racing Ahead that if the track stayed in that range it would not help either Dublin Lass or I’ve Got The Looks.

Snowden remains hopeful that the Royal Randwick will continue to improve in the lead-up to tomorrow’s meeting and if the track is rated in the good range he is confident that Dublin Lass will prove very tough to beat in the Breeders Classic.

“They are both subject to hopefully a track improve,” Snowden said.

“They are not ideally suited on a bog track, but this wind has been quite strong of late and hopefully it can dry out.

“Dublin Lass has done really well, her fresh form speaks for itself and she has been prepared really nicely.

“I think that she will run a very good race.”

Dublin Lass has previously had eight starts on tracks rated in the soft or heavy range and despite Snowden’s concerns, she has had some success on the softer going.

She took out the EGroup Security Handicap (1200m) at Royal Randwick on April 18 on a track rated a soft six and she finished in the placings in the Listed Juanmo Stakes (1200m) at Doomben on May 9 on a soft five, while she finished second behind Pittsburgh Flyer in the Group 3 Mumm Stakes (1100m) at Flemington on November 5 on a Heavy 9.

I’ve Got The Looks does not have as much experience on rain affected surfaces, but she too does not have a poor record on tracks rated soft or worst.

The Choisir mare took out the Number 1 Club Handicap (1200m) at Warwick Farm in April of 2013 on a track rated a soft six and she beat Dublin Lass to win the Juanmo Stakes in Brisbane last year.

I’ve Got The Looks is yet to record a race win this preparation, but she has performed well in both the Listed Canterbury Classic (1200m) at Royal Randwick on Boxing Day and the Listed Takeover Target Stakes (1200m) at Gosford on January 8.

Dublin Lass is currently available at 2016 Breeders Classic odds of $2.20 with Ladbrokes and she is a narrow favourite from I’ve Got The Looks ($4.20).
