Gregers was set to have the second start of her 2015 Spring Racing Carnival campaign in The Cup Club Stakes after he started her spring preparation with a disappointing seventh in the Listed Carlyon Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley on August 22, but Hayes said that the Commands mare will be saved for another race after she drew wide when the final field was released yesterday.

“She has drawn wide again and we have decided not to run her and save her for another day,” Hayes said.

Gregers may be out of the 2015 The Cup Club Stakes field, but Hayes will still be represented in the race in the form of Fast ‘N’ Rocking and Galaxy Pegasus.

Fast ‘N’ Rocking returned to racing with a more than credible fifth in the Listed Regal Roller Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on August 15 and he is one of the class runners in the field, but Hayes believes that the five-year-old will need plenty of luck in running to be a genuine winning chance in the Cup Club Stakes.

“It is a horror barrier and he is going to be giving them a very big start,” Hayes said.

“He is going to be relying on a very fast tempo.”

Galaxy Pegasus rounds out the Lindsay Park runners in The Cup Club Stakes and the War Pass entire is set to have his first race start since he finished at the tail of the field in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on March 27.

Hayes revealed that Galaxy Pegasus had a throat operation during his stint in the spelling paddock and the leading trainer expects the four-year-old to show plenty of improvement during his 2015 Spring Racing Carnival campaign.

“Galaxy Pegasus’s recent trial was very good,” Hayes said.

“He has a good barrier, he will be right on the pace and he is a good each-way chance.

“He is a horse to follow, he has had a wind op and he might go a level up.”

Galaxy Pegasus is currently available at 2015 The Cup Club Stakes odds of $7 with Ladbrokes, while Fast ‘N’ Rocking is priced at a quote of $10 to return to winning form this weekend.
