The Morphettville track has been rated a Good 4 for the running of the 2017 Group 2 $400,000 Adelaide Cup (3200m) today.
The rail for the running of Adelaide’s 3200m feature staying race is out various distances, 4m from the 1800m to the 1200m and out 2m for the remainder for the course.
The field for the Adelaide Cup has been reduced to nineteen runners following the scratching of Dandy Gent, Oncidium Ruler and Bayanova as well as third emergency Choysa.
Apprentice Ben Allen is the new rider for the Lindsay Park trained Honey Steel’s Gold in the Adelaide Cup replacing Jake Duffy who suffered a suspected broken elbow in a fall at Corowa on Sunday.
The Darren Weir trained Master Of Arts remains a solid favourite at $4.40 ahead of $6 hope Chance To Dance from the Robert HIckmott stable.
Stuart Webb’s Annus Mirabilis is also well up in the market order at $6.50 ahead of De Little Engine at $9.50 and Clair Lindop’s mount Mail It In at $10.
The Listed $100,000 Schweppes C D Hayes Memorial Cup (1600m) has been hit hard with scratchings, reducing the field to just eight runners following the withdrawals of the top weight Sir Isaac Newton along with Dr Dapper, Baligari and Woakwine.
The other feature race on the nine event program, the Listed $100,000 My Kitchen Rules Matrice Stakes (1200m), is free of scratchings as is the $200,000 Magic Millions Adelaide 2yo Classic (1200m) for qualified two year olds.
