Golden Rose favourites Menari and Pariah are among the fourteen nominations for the Group 2 $200,000 The Run To The Rose (1200m) at Rosehill on Saturday.
The Gerald Ryan trained Menari sits at the top of the market order at $6 for the Group 1 $1m De Bortoli Wines Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill on September 23 with the smart Pariah in hot pursuit at $7 at Ladbrokes.com.au.
Menari earned the top spot in the betting with a first up win in Listed $150,000 Smithfield RSL Club Rosebud (1100m) at Rosehill on August 12 while the Peter and Paul Snowden trained Pariah was just as impressive in beating Chauffeur in the Group 3 $150,000 TPG Telecom San Domenico Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on August 26.
Josh Parr was aboard Menari for his Rosebud win and is keen on the Snitzel colt’s chances this weekend and in the Golden Rose.
‘I think he’s improved both with his fitness and, as risky as it is to say, he may well have improved ability wise,” Parr told Racing New South Wales News.
”It’s going to be a hot race, it’s the main lead up for the Golden Rose but I feel I am on a very good horse.”
Ryan has also entered Condor Heroes and the the Team Hawkes trained Chauffeur is also among the nominations for The Run To Rose and is also prominent in the Golden Rose betting at $10.
Team Snowden also have Inglis Sires’ winner Invader entered for Saturday and trainer James Cummings has nominated Kementari for The Run To The Rose, with the Lonhro colt, who wears the Godolphin royal blue colours, having his first run back since creating a huge impression with a four lengths win in in a 1400m two year old Plate at Randwick on May 27.
The in-form Lindsay Park Team have entered the only filly in The Run To The Rose, their smart three year old Tulip who is coming off a first up second to Roomooz in a 1200m three year old fillies Plate at The Valley on August 26.
The Australian Turf Club has exteneded the deadline for the nominations for The Run To The Rose until 11am on Tuesday, September 5, 2017.
