Fundamentalist has been placed on five occasions in Group 1 company during her two and three year old seasons and the rising four year old will get her chance to claim Group 1 glory in the coming months.

“She’s five times Group 1-placed. I think she’s due a Group 1,” Lindsay Park co-trainer Ben Hayes told the Herald Sun.

Fundamentalist won a Flemington jumpout last week and the Lindsay Park Team of David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig will give the daughter of Not A Single Doubt another jumpout before she kicks off her 2019 Spring Carnival campaign that could include a start in the Group 1 $1m New Zealand Bloodstock Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on August 31.

Fundamentalist’s first attempt at Group 1 level was at the end of her two year old year and resulted in a third to The Autumn Sun in the $600,000 Jaguar Land Rover J.J. Atkins Plate (1600m) at Doomben during the 2018 Brisbane Winter Carnival.

The consistent filly then visited the runner’s up stall during the 2018 Spring Carnival when second in the Group 1 $500,000 Schweppes Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield against the fillies and then two starts later was third against the older mares in the Group 1 $500,000 Empire Rose Stakes (1600m) at Flemington.

The 2019 Sydney Autumn Carnival saw Fundamentalist pick up two more Group 1 placings at Randwick with a second in the $500,000 Surround Stakes (1400m) and in the $1m Mostyn Copper Randwick Guineas (1600m).
