Forward Caulfield Cup Field Position For Rising Romance

Rising Romance is currently available at 2015 Caulfield Cup odds of $10 and could shorten further after co-trainer David Hayes revealed that she is set to take up a forward position in the Group 1 event that will be held at Caulfield tomorrow.

Rising Romance has shown a degree of tactical versatility during her racing career to date and she was settled in the second half of the field in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on October 4, but Hayes told Racing Ahead that he expects jockey Damian Lane to settle the five-year-old right up there with the leaders when she jumps from barrier two in the early stages of the 2015 Caulfield Cup.

“You know that your luck is in when you get 22 and 2 to choose from and you get two,” Hayes said.

“I jumped off the couch when she got that barrier.

“I would say that she will be in the first half a dozen for sure and she might be in the first three.”

Rising Romance joined the Lindsay Park team at the start of her 2015 Spring Racing Carnival campaign, after previously being trained by Donna Logan in New Zealand, and Hayes has been happy with the way that the daughter of Ekraar has performed in each of her race starts.

Hayes revealed earlier in the week that he believes Rising Romance had excuses for her lacklustre effort in the Turnbull Stakes and he said that there is no knock on her performances in either the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on August 29 or the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on September 12.

“She has had a good prep,” Hayes said.

“I think if she got the run 100 metres earlier in the Makybe Diva than she might be the Makybe Diva winner going into it.

“We are happy, she is a classy mare and we are hoping that she gets the same run as last year, but hits the front 200 metres later.”

Rising Romance has been backed into 2015 Caulfield Cup odds of $10 with Ladbrokes and she is on the fourth line of betting behind Mongolian Khan ($4.80), Hauraki ($9.50) and Snow Sky ($9.50).

Leading online bookmaker is offering Best Tote or Starting Price +20% in every single race at Caulfield on Saturday, which means that you can score the best odds for Rising Romance or any other runner in the 2015 Caulfield Cup field.
