The Lindsay Park trained Fifty Stars is the shining light of the stables four nominations for the 2019 Group 2 $200,000 P.B. Lawrence Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday.
The Lindsay Park Team of David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig have also nominated Dual Australian Cup winner Harlem, the promising Sikandarabad and French import Neufbosc for the 1400m weight for age feature.
Lindsay Park picked up the former Darren Weir trained Fifty Stars in February this year and the now five year old was able to find the winner’s stall on two occasions during the 2019 Autumn Carnival for the new stable with a win in the Group 2 $200,000 Blamey Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on March 2 and a win in the Group 2 $200,000 Hyland Race Colours Ajax Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill a fortnight later.
Co-trainer Ben Hayes pointed out that the 1400m of the P.B. Lawrence Stakes would suit Fifty Stars the best of their four entries and expects him to perform well.
“We know him well now and we’re expecting a big campaign from him,” Ben Hayes told AAP.
“His target races are likely the Sir Rupert Clarke and the Toorak Handicap.”
The Group 1 $500,000 Ladbrokes Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) is at Caulfield on September 21 while the Group 1 $500,000 Toorak Handicap (1600m) also at Caulfield three weeks later.
