Magic Millions Classic hot favourite Assail has been scratched from today’s juvenile feature after the discovery of a foot abscess.
The Clarry Conners-trained filly was as short as $2.50 in some markets during the week and the problem came as a disappointing surprise to her trainer.
“There’s been no trouble at all, until I got her out of the stable this morning and she was lame,” Conners told News Limited.
“I don’t know where it’s come from.”
Assail’s withdrawal has seen Victorian gelding Clevadude installed as $3.80 favourite despite a horror barrier 18 draw.
A trio of Queensland fillies follow the unbeaten Rick Hore-Lacy-trained galloper in the market with Missy Longstocking ($4.20), Real Surreal ($6) and Greytfilly ($8) all well supported.
