Egyptian Symbol Too Good in Wyong Magic Millions 3YO & 4YO Classic

Egyptian Symbol firmed into clear $1.40 favouritism prior to jump and did her chances no harm at all when he jumped well and immediately took up the running, ahead of Dam Ready and Golden Spin.

Experiencing a carefree run in transit, jockey Brenton Avdulla was a passenger as the Stratum mare jogged clear of her rivals in the final straight; finding the line four lengths ahead of closest rival Madotti; Dam Ready boxing on for third.

Trainer Bjorn Baker was pleased with Egyptian Symbol’s performance to win the Wyong Magic Millions 3YO & 4YO Classic and confirmed that the Gold Coast Magic Millions will figure as her major campaign target.

“She got away with a soft outside lead and it was a really good ride by Brenton,” Baker said.

“She’s on her way up to the Fillies & Mares Magic Millions over 1300m.

“She was probably a little bit unlucky in the 1400m three-year-old race last year, so I think we’ve got a little bit of unfinished business.

“She‘s going well, so I think that it’s just nice to be involved and getting up to the Magic Millions with a live hope.”

Avdulla delivered a smart performance aboard Egyptian Symbol to win the Wyong Magic Millions 3YO & 4YO Classic and revealed that he was always confident he was on the mare to beat.

“She’s obviously a talented mare and probably should have been giving them all five of six kilos minimum,” Avdulla said after the race.

“I was confident that if I just parked her wherever I wanted her to be, if that meant I was in front, outsider or three or four deep it didn’t bother me, I just wanted to keep her flowing in her rhythm.

“She showed good gate speed and got across, we only went very steady in front and made it a dash home.

“She got around the bend really well, lengthened and I was pretty kind to her. She’ll be hard to beat in the mares’ race.”

In taking out the Wyong 3YO & 4YO Magic Millions Classic, Egyptian Symbol has extended her record to five wins and six minors through only thirteen career starts.
