Trainer Joe Pride is contemplating backing Easy Eddie up next week in Group 1 $700,000 The Galaxy after he handled the wet condition well to score a neck win in the Group 3 $160,000 Canadian Club Maurice McCarten Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill today.

“Might run here in a weeks time in the Galaxy. Just want to see how he pulls up first. It was always our plan that if he ran well to potentially back him up, because he is a good back up horse, but we weren’t counting on a Heavy 10 today. I’ll be there in the morning to see how he is,” Pride said.

“He may be a little bit better on the soft, but we’ve got to take into account that when he is a bit fitter he will get through it better. He only had a couple of weeks off , and you would rather be coming into a track like this on the back up or a quicker turnaround.”

Apprentice Robbie Dolan was unable to using his allowance in the non-claiming race but rode a superb race in the heavy conditions to bring Easy Eddie with a well timed run in the straight.

Dolan positioned Easy Eddie just behind the leading division and presented him into the clear when heads were turned for home.

The Super Easy four year old got through the heavy 10 track okay and was able to take control of the race at the fifty metre mark to score a tidy win over the Danny Williams trained She Knows.

All Over Bosanova was in the firing line for most of the race and battled on well over the concluding stages to hold on for third.

Easy Eddie was sent out as the $4 favourite on the back of some good form that included a last start second to Tactical Advantage in the Listed $150,000 Takeover Target Stakes (1200m) at Gosford on January 17.

She Knows started at the double figure odds of $11 while third placegetter All Over Bosanova was well tried in the betting, firming in from $8 to start at $5.50.
