Trainer Allan Denham will discuss with the winning owners if a late entry fee will be paid for the Golden Slipper after Ichihara won at Rosehill today.

 Corey Brown took Ichihara straight to the front and held on to score by a nose in the Group 2 $175,000 Mondial Pink Diamond Magic Night Stakes (1200m) from Cavalry Rose who is also looking for a Slipper berth.

Connections have until eleven o’clock on Monday morning to pay the late entry of $150,000 for the Group 1 $3.5m AAMI Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill next Saturday.

Owner George Altomonte said that he would discuss with Denham if they would proceed to the Slipper next Saturday and pay the late entry fee after Ichihara remained unbeaten.

“Three out three. She won Wyong at her first start, broke the record up there which was good. She won at Warwick Farm convincingly and I think she did the same today. She’s a nice filly,” Altomonte said.

“She’s not nominated of cause and we will have to have a talk to Allan and see what he says,” he said.

It had been reported that Denham was retiring from training but Altomonte said that he was moving to Wyong and scaling down his operation.

Brown set up a good pace in front and after kicking clear at the 200m the filly was able to stick her head out on the line when challenged by the Gerald Ryan pair of Cavalry Rose and Flying Snitzel.

“She got left in front far too early but stuck her head out at the right time,” Brown said.

“She was a touch slow away today, still learning like a lot of them,” he said adding that if had the he would pay the late entry fee.

Cavalry Rose looked to have Ichihara covered when Jim Cassidy made his move at the 200m but the winner was able to hang on in a close photo finish.

The runners up cheque will be enough for Cavalry Rose to scrape into the Golden Slipper field if Ryan decides to continue on that path.
