Dance With Her heading to Qld for Brisbane cup

Centaurea Stakes winner Dance With Her will be heading to Queensland for the Group 2 $300,000 Australian Special Metals Brisbane Cup (2400m) at Eagle Farm on June 9 after scoring back to back wins at Morphettville.

Dance With Her took out the Listed $200,000 Sportsbet Warrnambool Cup (2350m) at her last start and winning trainer David Brideoake will give her the chance to step in class again after winning in Listed company over 2005m today.

Jockey Dwayne Dunn was quick to point out that Dance With Her was not just a wet tracker after winning six of her eleven wins on slow and heavy tracks after scoring today on a Dead 4.

“I still don’t’ mind her on top of the ground like we’ve seen today. She’s always show she got the ability. She failed on top of the ground early because she was running over 1200m and couldn’t have won anyway. It’s probably a little bit of a myth that she’s just a wet tracker. She’s better than that,” Dunn said.

Dunn said that Dance With Her deserved her chance in the Brisbane Cup and even though he thinks she is okay on top of the ground, if she was to run into a wet track in Queensland, that would add to her chances.

Runner up Placement was let roll along at a leisurely pace in the middle stages by Katelyn Mallyon and looked to be holding the challengers at the 100m before Dunn got to work on the Dance With Her and finished the stronger to score by just over a length.

The Al Maher mare won’t have any problems handling the 2400m of the Brisbane Cup after winning over 2350m in the Warrnambool Cup on a heavy track.
