Godolphin has purchased promising entire Contributer and he will join the stable of John O’Shea for the 2014 Spring Racing Carnival.
Contributer was previously prepared by Ed Dunlop at Newmarket and owned by George Bolton, but was sold to Godolphin in a private sale after he took out the Listed Wolferton Handicap (2011m) on June 20 during the 2014 Royal Ascot Meeting.
The son of High Chaparral made his racing debut with a sixth place finish in a maiden at Newmarket in July of 2012 before he returned to the races to score his maiden victory on the all-weather track at Wolverhampton on November 16.
Contributer started his 2013 racing season with another win in the Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup E.B.F. Conditions Stakes (2017m) at Newbury on April 19 before his made his debut at Group level with a second place finish behind subsequent Group 1 winner Magician in the Group 3 Dee Stakes (2080m) at Chester on May 10.
The four-year-old suffered a surprise defeat in a rare two horse race in the Listed Cocked Hat Stakes (2212m) at Goodwood on May 24 before he finished his campaign with a fourth place finish in the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes (2414m) during the 2013 Royal Ascot Meeting.
Contributer was given a lengthy stint away from the races before he returned to winning form in the Listed Magnolia Stakes (2011m) at Kempton Park on March 29 earlier this year and finished third behind Cox Plate invitee Noble Mission and Telescope in the Group 3 Gordon Richards Stakes (2018m) at Sandown Park on April 25 before he took out the Wolferton Handicap last month.
Godolphin and O’Shea are yet to decide on any 2014 Spring Racing Carnival targets for Contributer, but there are a number of different options for the talented galloper that competed from 1408 metres to 2414 metres in the United Kingdom.
Contributer scored four wins from nine race starts in his racing career in the United Kingdom and accumulated £109,264 in prizemoney for his owner.
The imported galloper will carry the famous royal blue silks of Godolphin while racing in Australia after it was announced this morning that Darley racing operations will be rebranded to Godolphin.
