Lightly raced three year old Classique Legend will get first divvies for his owner Bon Ho’s slot for the 2019 $14m The Everest (1200m) at Randwick on October 19.

Classique Legend has only been to the races on four occasions and connections believe that the Not A Single Doubt gelding has unlimited potential following his explosive win in the Group 2 $1m Arrowfield 3yo Sprint (1200m) at Randwick Day Two of The Championships on April 13.

Mr Ho purchased the GPI Racing Slot when it became available in May and immediately named his new found sprinting star Classique Legend as the front runner for The Everest slot.

Ho’s racing manage Carmel Size said that if the Les Bridge trained sprinter didn’t rise to the occasion, they wouldn’t hesitate to start searching for an alternative runner for their slot.

“We’re fully prepared for the fact we may be looking for another horse to put in that slot but racing is a dream,” Size told The Everest News Desk.

“You don’t turn up at 3am seven days a week if you aren’t doing it for the love of a horse and the dream.”

“He’s strengthened all over, I wouldn’t be surprised if you see him in the field.”

Classique Legend has returned from a spell in great order and Size is tipping that the rising four year old will need two barrier trials before stepping back out onto the race course.

“I think we might take him away for his barrier trials, I’ll ask them at Hawkesbury if they’d like to have him back,” Size said.

“He’s pretty gross at the moment so he might need two trials before he goes to the races.”

Even though Classique Legend has only been to the races on four occasions for three wins, his best at Group 2 level, he is well in contention in the betting for The Everest at $10 with Ladbrokes.com.au.
